Job summary

Are you looking for an interesting role in Primary Care? Would you like to join a growing, supportive medicines management team in a small PCN with opportunities for personal development, impactful quality improvement and patient facing clinics?

Working with IPC, we have been impressed by the impact that the pharmacists and pharmacy technicians have had across Lancing and Sompting PCN and would like to expand their team’s capacity. The population is growing, though currently stands at 28,400. There are 3 surgeries and currently 3 PCN pharmacists and 2 Pharmacy technicians that work closely with the wider practice and PCN teams. We have excellent relationships with the local community pharmacies and community teams. Specialist interests, experience and independent prescribing qualifications are welcomed, though not essential, especially around chronic disease management including frailty and care homes.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting role in General Practice combining patient-facing, analytical and administrative elements of work. Working across three sites, Ball Tree Surgery, The Orchard Surgery and New Pond Row Surgery, alongside a PCN Pharmacy team, the post-holder will help patients to get the best from their medicines by communicating medication changes to agreed and approved protocols, improving repeat prescribing processes in General Practice, including promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering, minimising clinical risk and aiming to reduce wasted medicines.

The successful candidate will be supported in terms of learning and professional development through regular access to a Clinical Pharmacist supervisor, other Practice staff and through regular Practice team meetings on a variety of topics. As part of a growing Pharmacy Technician Team in IPC there is also a programme of peer support events and team meetings in place.
