We have a new and exciting opportunity to join Innovations in Primary Care, an innovative, not for profit GP Federation in Coastal West Sussex, as our Head of Finance.

The successful candidate will lead the Finance Division of the company with day to day responsibility for several key company functions, including Finance, Payroll, Estates, Business Analytics and IT. They will ensure that these functions are effective, resilient and insightful, in support of the whole IPC staff team and in support of all our member practices and their patients.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Finance will also work closely with a nominated Director of IPC to support the board in their oversight and leadership of the company.

This is a permanent role based at IPCs Arundel office, with the occasional need to visit other sites as required.

The successful candidate will have proven success in leading business growth, be a strategic communicator, and be passionate about developing and coaching a team.

Please note, a management accountancy qualification is desirable, as is experience of NHS contracting and IT and digital development.

Main duties of the job

The Head of Finance has overall responsibility for the day to day running of key IPC functions including Finance, Payroll, Estates, Business Analytics and IT. They are also a key contributor the setting of future strategy for IPC as a GP federation.

Responsibilities of the Role

Mission

Lead the Finance division of the company in pursuit of IPCs strategic objectives; GP-led clinical service provision, workforce development and responsive business support services.

Governance

Ensure regulatory compliance and sound governance of the following company functions: Finance, Payroll, Estates, Business Analytics, IT and Project Management.

Continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of these functions.

Work closely with the Director with responsibility for Finance and report to the board as required on a monthly and annual basis.

Role-model personal compliance and engagement with company governance processes.

Representation

Support the Chief Executive Officer to ensure that General Practice as a whole is effectively represented and builds strong collaborative partnerships across the NHS locally.

Collaborate with peers from similar organisations as needed to support the achievement of aims and for learning and development.

People

Line manage the relevant Function Managers and their teams.

Work with the other divisional Heads to ensure effective succession planning for the key company functions.

Finance

Lead the annual budget creation, monitoring and delivery process for the company.

This includes supporting Service Managers to create, monitor and deliver budgets for all IPC Services.

Find, create or help structure new business opportunities in support of IPCs mission.

Ensure an effective network of suppliers of professional services for IPC including accountancy and legal advice.

Contracts

Build and manage effective relationships with healthcare system partners

Develop sound and flexible contracting to enable innovative services and new collaborations with General Practice and NHS Primary Care locally
