Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinician to join our Practice team at Mill Road Surgery. The post would be four sessions, Tuesday pm, Wednesday all day, and Friday pm (with flexibility in working pattern for right candidate).

Ideally, we are looking to recruit a salaried GP with a view to Partnership. However, we are open to applications from a Physicians Associate, Advanced Nurse Practitioner or Advanced Care Practitioner (Paramedic).

Main duties of the job

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract.

Furthermore, the post holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

About us

The Mill Road Surgery team consists of four GP partners, one salaried GP, two Practice Nurses, one Trainee Nurse Associate, one Healthcare Assistant, a GP Assistant, two Practice Managers (job share), and nine Receptionists/Administration support staff. Together with our network we also have practice pharmacists, a pharmacy technician and pharmacy admin as well as a physician's assistant and are currently recruiting an advanced nurse practitioner to join that team too.

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

b. The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract

c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

d. Effective management of long-term conditions

e. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

f. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles

g. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

h. Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

i. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

j. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

k. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

l. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

m. Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training

n. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

o. Prepare and complete the revalidation process

p. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

Essential

  • Salaried GP:
  • Qualified GP,
  • MRCGP,
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP,
  • General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT),
  • Full GMC registration,
  • National Performers List registration,
  • Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU),
  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
  • Paramedic:
  • Educated to degree level in paramedicine or equivalent experience
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council as a paramedic,
  • Physician Associate:
  • Physician Associate Postgraduate Diploma/Masters from accredited UK university,
  • Registered with Faculty of Physician Associates/PAMVR and or the General Medical Council following implementation of statutory regulation, working within the latest code of professional conduct (CIPD),
