Job summary

To be responsible for the read coding (using readcodes or SNOMED) of relevant information into patients electronic healthcare records using SystmOne, adhering to the organisation coding and summarising policy. In addition, the post holder will also support the multi-disciplinary team, providing administrative support as required, in line with the needs of the organisation.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities:- Assign appropriate codes to medical diagnoses and procedures using SNOMED CT coding systems- Review medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness for coding purposes- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and obtain additional information as needed- Follow coding guidelines and regulations to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations- Stay up-to-date with changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices

Essential

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
  • Read Coding / Summarising knowledge

Desirable

  • Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care

Experience

Essential

  • Experience:
  • - Minimum of 1 years of experience as a Coding Specialist or similar role
  • - Proficiency in SystmOne - SNOMED CT coding systems
  • - Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • - Familiarity with SystmOne clinical software
  • - Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding assignments
  • - Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • - Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare providers

  • Experience of working in primary care
  • Experience of working in a GP practice
  • Experience of SystmOne, Clinical Systems
