Job summary

We have an exciting and important opportunity to join Moir Medical Centre & West Park Surgery as General Manager. Reporting directly to the Managing Partner and accountable to the Practice Partners, you will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations, high-quality patient care, and effective delivery of Primary Care Network (PCN) services.

Main duties of the job

As General Manager, you will oversee daily operations, manage multidisciplinary teams, and ensure efficient service delivery, including PCN-related initiatives such as improving patient access, coordinating additional roles like Clinical Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, and Mental Health Practitioners, implementing population health management programmes, and enhancing integrated care across multiple local organisations. Responsibilities include managing premises, procurement, local finances, quality assurance, compliance with CQC standards, and leading direct line management of Service Leads. You will align practice activities with the vision and strategic objectives of Erewash Health Partnership (EHP).

You will serve as the primary point of contact for operational matters, including risk management, health and safety, communications, IT governance, and staff training and development. Leading local projects and driving continuous improvement efforts, you will ensure consistent implementation of best practices across Moir Medical Centre and West Park Surgery.

About Erewash Health Partnership (EHP) & Erewash PCN: Erewash Health Partnership (EHP) was established on 1 April 2018 and is a single GP Partnership comprising of seven constituent practices. EHP employs approximately 240 people who work within the constituent practices and central team.

As well as providing high quality core primary care services, EHP is the prime provider for delivering services to Erewash Primary Care Network (EPCN) which has in total over 103k patients, as well as operating its own services for EHP Partners.

EHP is governed by the EHP Senior Leadership Team reporting to the EHP Board. This role will report to the Managing Partner.

General Duties: At all times the post holder is to behave in a professional way that encourages quality care, the development of a team spirit and fosters continual improvement across the Practices.

This job description is not intended to be exhaustive and the role continues to evolve. The post-holder will be expected to carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required or directed in line with the main duties and level of the role to meet the changing needs of the Practices.

The role is responsible for: Core operational areas of responsibility including direct line management of Service Leads where appropriate across the Practices' covering the following to meet agreed targets/KPIs:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operational services of the practices ensuring all staff achieve their primary responsibilities, delivering in line with the Practices' and EHP mission, vision and objectives.

  • Being both the escalation point and on-site support to Service Leads/Manager/Supervisor as needed.

Lead locally and work with EHP HR as needed for:

  • Ensuring delivery and continuously improving localised People/HR requirements including effective line/supervisory management, inductions, JDs, interviewing, information collation/checks/logging on e-folders, working with EHP People team.

  • Delivering an effective staff appraisal process, fully logged on Teamnet and e-folder.

  • Developing, implementing and embedding an effective practice and staff development plan, including mandatory training programmes

  • Coordinating and leading the compilation of practice reports and the practice development plan (PDP) with People team

  • Supporting EHP People Team with reviewing and updating of all practice policies and procedures in conjunction with other business managers

  • Ensuring all elements of local finance are managed and delivered including claims, QOF, liaising with GPs, Nursing staff and administrators, liaising with EHP Corporate team as needed.
