Job summary

We are looking to appoint a hard-working and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our Nursing Team. Experience in Primary Care is preferred but not essential as training and support will be given to the right candidate.

Salary: £23,795.20 £24,960.00 pro rata per annum

Hours of work: 24-32

The candidate will demonstrate flexibility, good communication skills, and an ability to work as a team member as well as using their own initiative. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your clinical skills. Candidates will have an NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care, and he/she will demonstrate a commitment to further learning and development. Our Health Care Assistants work alongside GPs, and the other members of the nursing team to improve overall health and wellbeing of our patients.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Skills

Undertake, record and follow guidelines for the tasks which you have received appropriate training:

Urinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory.

Chronic disease management review.

Perform new patient health checks.

Measuring and recording following physiological measurements in routine presentations such as blood pressure, pulse rate and rhythm, temperature, height and weight body mass index.

Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions.

Assist in raising awareness of health and well-being, and how it can be promoted.

Give accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within own competence.

Perform basic wound care and dressing changes according to a nursing care plan.

Referrals to relevant services such as smoking cessation, alcohol dependence, NDPP, Weight Management.

To administer vaccines (for example: influenza, pneumococcal and shingles) on the instructions of a regulated professional.

Administrative Tasks

Maintaining stock control of clinical supplies.

Replenishing stock within the clinical rooms.

Management of emergency drug supplies.

Ordering of vaccines and regular stock check.

Recording of fridge temperature log.

Calibration and safety check for certain equipment.

Organise the provision of information leaflets as requested.

About us

Nantwich Health Centre has a patient population of 7900. Our current nursing team consists of 2 practice nurses, 1 Health Care Assistant and 1 GP Assistant. We have 8 GPs, 2 Physios and a Social Prescriber. The clinical team are supported by many secretarial and administrative staff.
