Job summary

The role will be based across our two sites.

The working pattern can be negotiated and a job share would be considered.

Main duties of the job

Job Description

Duties may include any of the following, subject to necessary training, and supervision where required:

  • Phlebotomy
  • Recording of Blood Pressures
  • E.C.G
  • Measurement of height and weight
  • Calculation of BMI
  • Chaperoning as and when required
  • Assisting with Practice Nurse in Baby Imms Clinic
  • BNP/D Dimer testing
  • Fitting of ABPMs
  • Fitting of cardiac monitors

Urinalysis

Health Checks

INRs

To assist visiting Consultants in Clinic

Nail Clippings

Skin Scrapings

Suture Removal

Staple Removal

Simple Dressings

Assisting with minor ops/coil fitting etc.

Assisting Practice Nurse with leg ulcer care

Smoking Cessation

Recording information both manually and on computer system

Maintenance of equipment log/cleaning/service etc.

Undertaking other clinical activities identified by the Practice Nurse or Doctor in accordance with agreed written protocols

Job responsibilities

Administrative and Housekeeping Duties

Maintain, store, and retrieve records both manual and computerised.

Provide clerical support for the nursing team photocopying etc.

Receive and transmit information by telephone to agreed Practice standard with particular attention to confidentiality.

Smoking Forms and audits

To attend Protected Time training

Be responsible for stocking the consulting rooms both clinically and clerically.

Prepare clinical areas, including instrument preparation, for specific clinical sessions.

Maintain stock levels of equipment and materials according to the needs of the practice.

In discussion with the nursing team, be responsible for supplying health promotion materials in the waiting area and consulting rooms.

HR, Training and Development Responsibilities

Attend training and study days and share this learning with the team.

Maintain own competencies to practice and ensure current profile folder and registration with appropriate professional body is maintained.

Beware and adhere to HR polices.

To participate in clinical supervision and understand when it may be necessary to access advice and support from senior colleagues, peers, and lead consultants.

To participate in the Practices annual Appraisal process.

To attend all relevant mandatory training as and when required to do so.

Quality and Patient Safety

Protection of Children & Vulnerable Adults To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

Implementation of NICE guidance and other statutory / best practice guidelines.

Infection Control To be responsible for the prevention and control of infection.

Incident reporting To report any incidents of harm or near miss in line with the Whaddon Medical Centres incident reporting policy ensuring appropriate actions are taken to reduce the risk of reoccurrence.

To contribute to the identification, management, and reduction of risk in the area of responsibility.

To ensure day to day practice reflects the highest standards of governance, clinical effectiveness, safety, and patient experience.

To ensure monitoring of quality and compliance with standards is demonstrable within the service on an ongoing basis.

To be aware of the responsibility of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients/ clients, visitors, and staff.

Communication and Key Working Relationships

Establish effective communication channels within the health economy.

Provide advice and support for staff.
