Administration
and professional responsibilities
Participate in the administrative and professional
responsibilities of the practice team
Ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and
treatments are recorded in the patients notes
Ensure the clinical computer system is kept up to date with
accurate details recorded
Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation
associated with patient health care and registration with the practice
Attend and participate in practice meetings as required
Assist in formulation of practice philosophy, strategy and policy
Restocking and maintenance of clinical areas and consulting rooms
To assist in seasonal and special projects as requested e.g. flu
campaign
Ordering and display of health promotion materials
Management
of appointment system
Ensure total familiarity with all appointment systems including
regular and incidental variations
Special
Requirements for the post
An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict
confidentiality
An ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness, common sense and
local knowledge, to respond to patients enquiries and requests while adhering
to practice limitations
An understanding and acceptance of ones capabilities and awareness
of own limitations
Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own
workload priorities
Basic keyboard and computer skills
Flexibility of working hours
Excellent communication skills
Communication
Effective communication with clinical and non clinical colleagues
to ensure the smooth running of the practice and efficient, safe, high quality
patient service
Liaison with members of the wider PHCT and community services, CCG
and secondary care in order to assure appropriate care is provided for
patients.
Communicate effectively with patients and carers recognising needs
for alternative methods of communication, with awareness and sensitivity to
confidentiality, need for appropriate information and consent.
To follow Practice policy regarding the use of e-mail and computer
tasks as the main internal method of non-verbal communication.
To listen to feedback from patients and colleagues whether this be
a complaint, comment or compliment and if it cannot be dealt with immediately,
ensure it is reported immediately to a member of the Practice Management Team

Understand own role and scope in the Practice and identify how this
may develop over time
Participate in regular team and practice meetings, educational and
development activities.
Work as an effective and responsible team member, supporting
others and exploring the mechanisms to develop new ways of working
Recognise & understand the roles of individuals working within
the team & how these interface with your own
Delegate clearly and appropriately, adopting the principles of
safe practice and assessment of competence of nurses
Ensure clear referral mechanisms are in place to meet patient need
Prioritise own workload and ensure effective time-management
strategies are embedded within the culture of the team
Work effectively with others to clearly define values, direction
and policies impacting upon care deliver
Participate in and support local projects as agreed with the
Practice Management Team
Collation
of Information
Support the Practice team in achievement of good quality care
and QOF targets by keeping medical
records updated by ensuring the following
Collation of patient information using Emis Web medical
information system.
Assist with the management of disease registers (where
appropriate)
Maintaining quality and accuracy of all data input and clinical
coding.
To work within the guidelines set byCQC to
ensure that the Practice is safe,efficient andprovides the best
possible care for patients.
To offer suggestions to the Managing Partner on how we
can improve, progress and develop all processes relating to CQC.

review and may be amended to take into account development within the
Practice. All members of staff should be
prepared to take on additional duties or relinquish existing duties in order to
