Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at our GP Surgery, Heald Green Health Centre. We are a friendly, growing, and forward-thinking practice looking to recruit a Salaried GP to join our team in leafy Heald Green. We are looking for someone to join us for 4 sessions per week.

Main duties of the job

As a salaried GP, you will work as part of the team to manage a busy, interesting clinical caseload ensuring the highest standard of care for all registered and temporary patients. The post-holder will have the opportunity to assist in developing services for our patient list and will carry out all the duties reasonably expected of an NHS general practitioner using the standards expected by the GMC and RCGP in line with appropriate national and/or local guidelines.

About us

Heald Green Health Centre is a busy and friendly practice. We are situated in leafy Heald Green near the Manchester Airport and have close links to the motorway. Our current list size is around 7,200. Our team consists of the following members:

  • 2 GP partners
  • 4 Salaried GP's
  • 2 GP Trainees
  • 2 Practice Nurses
  • 1 Trainee Nurse Associate
  • 2 Care Coordinators
  • Management, secretarial and administrative team including reception staff

We are involved in teaching medical students and GP Trainees as well as being part of the Primary Care Research Network.

Our CQC rating in 2019 was Good.

We are a part of the Cheadle PCN and work very closely with the other 3 practices in our PCN to deliver the highest standard of care to our patient populations.

We are based in a fantastic, purpose built, new health centre with lots of ancillary services onsite including Health Visitor, Treatment Room, Chiropody, in house Physiotherapy, Well-Being Coordinator, Ultrasound and Psychotherapy services are also available at the Health Centre.

Key areas and responsibilities:

Clinical

1. To provide the full range of Medical Services based on patient needs where appropriate, including Maternity Services, Contraceptive Services, Child Health Surveillance Services, Chronic Disease Management, and Minor Surgery, in accordance with practice opening times.

2. To participate in providing a range of services in line with local and national enhanced services including minor surgery, choose and book, and other Practice based services on an elective basis such as Dermatoscopy, Coil clinics and joint injections.

3. To provide on call services as necessary in conjunction with other colleagues during the surgery opening hours

4. To provide developmental support in improving systems and organisation of care where appropriate and agreed with the practice

5. To participate in clinical audit and take responsibility for specific QOF clinical areas as agreed with the Lead GP.

6. To undertake administrative duties, including the generation and signing of prescriptions, review of hospital letters, pathology results and private medical work, including the completion of medical reports etc

Communication

1. Be able to effectively communicate at all levels of the organisation: to a variety of health professionals, users and carers, independent and voluntary sector to provide the best outcomes for users of the services.

2. Provide interface between Hospital and primary, community and social settings, participate where appropriate in clinical meetings relating to patient care and outcomes

3. Be able to keep accurate contemporaneous documentation, both written and computerized (EMIS).

4. To complete Insurance, DSS and other reports relating to patients primarily under your care

Educator

1. Participate in the teaching of other professionals and undergraduate students attached to the practices both formally and informally, users and carers in relation to their health and wellbeing.

2. Be responsible for maintaining professional development and participating in further education as required for this role and in accordance with a personal education plan.

3. To participate in NHS GP appraisal.

Researcher

1. Critically evaluate and interpret evidence based research findings from diverse sources making informed judgments about their implications for changing and/or developing clinical practice

2. Continually evaluate and audit the quality and effectiveness of the practice of self and others, selecting and applying a wide range of valid and reliable approaches and methods that are appropriate to needs and context

3. Identify gaps in evidence and/or practice knowledge and participate in their resolution through primary research

Leadership

1. Work collaboratively and in partnership with other practitioners to offer appropriate advice to all professions on care practices, delivery, and service development

2. Be a mentor for other professions, where appropriate

Clinical Governance

1. To participate and operate within the clinical governance framework for the organisation at all times, incorporating service users and carers, audit, guidelines and risk management

2. To actively participate in the practice, becoming familiar with and abiding by its plans, policies and procedures.

3. To comply with health and safety policies within the organisation, to report any accidents or untoward incidents occurring whilst on duty in accordance with One Medicare policy

Working hours

4 sessions worked over Thursdays and Fridays. Thursday afternoons to be an on-call session.

A part-time practitioner shall be remunerated on a pro rata basis to a full-time practitioners salary.

Additional working hours

The practice may agree with a practitioner that he or she should undertake work in addition to their contracted hours in accordance with their contract and in line with Working Time Directives

The additional(s) shall be remunerated on a pro rata basis to a full-time practitioners salary.

Practice meetings

The practitioner is required to attend and participate in regular practice meetings including those relating to clinical governance issues within normal working hours.

The practitioner is also required to participate in and operate clinical governance methods and systems approved by the practice, e.g. medical audit or quality assurance initiatives.

Medical Registration

The practitioner is required to effect and maintain full registration with the General Medical Council and maintain inclusion on the appropriate Performers List. The practitioner is also required to provide written proof and evidence of such registration.
