Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our team for 21 hours per week across 3 days. In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality patient care, supporting clinical activities, and ensuring that patients receive the necessary care and guidance throughout their healthcare journey. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of clinical practice and a passion for providing exceptional care in a welcoming and professional environment.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide health advice and guidance to patients.
  • Administer immunisations, injections, and vaccinations.
  • Conduct health screenings, including lipid profiles, blood pressure checks, and cervical smears.
  • Support and assist in specialist clinics such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, menopause, warfarin, minor surgery, and contraception.
  • Perform ECGs and other routine monitoring procedures.
  • Offer travel health advice.
  • Diagnose and treat minor illnesses (following appropriate training).
  • Carry out venepuncture and prepare pathology samples.
  • Maintain and update health promotion literature and patient information.
  • Input and manage patient data on the Practice clinical system.
  • Utilise the clinical system for patient searches, clinic management, and recall processes.
  • Manage long-term conditions, including asthma, diabetes, and COPD.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control procedures.
  • Clean and sterilise clinical equipment and work surfaces regularly.
  • Maintain treatment room equipment, including testing and record-keeping.
  • Attend and participate in Practice meetings.
  • Undertake additional duties as required, following review and consultation.

We are a high-performing practice located in the town centre of Warrington, serving a patient population of 8,500. As a training practice, we provide opportunities for GP registrars and medical students. Our clinical team includes 5 GPs, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP), practice nurses, and Healthcare Assistants (HCAs).

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Practice Nurse to join our clinical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in and performing routine patient care tasks as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care across a range of clinical services.

  • Assist with routine tasks related to patient care under the direction of the Lead Nurse and GPs.
  • Carry out cytology and women's health assessments.
  • Perform pill checks.
  • Conduct travel assessments and administer vaccinations.
  • Support respiratory care.

  • Provide diabetes care management.
  • Administer routine adult and childhood immunisations.
