Job summary

Holmes Chapel Health Centre is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to be part of our extremely busy clinical Admin team.

As Clinical Coder/Administrator you will provide an invaluable link between the third-party information that comes into the Practice on a daily basis and the patients electronic records. If you have accurate keyboard and IT skills and have an understanding of medical terminology, then this could be the job for you!

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Coder will be responsible for assigning the correct codes to a patient's record in terms of medical diagnosis, service received as well as ensuring relevant documentation of procedures is attached to the record. They will ensure the codes are applied correctly.

Holmes Chapel Health Centre is a traditional yet forward thinking GP Practice, set in the heart of Cheshire. We are quite a large team with 5 Partners, 2 salaried GPs, 2 Advanced Clinical Practitioners, and a large nursing team.

Our administration team work very closely with the clinical team to support each other and deliver the very best in patient care.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Accurately clinically code data on the clinical system into the patient record

Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed action.

Input and extract data as required to support practice reports

File and store records as required

Photocopying documentation as required

Action all incoming correspondence emails and mail in a timely manner

Scan patient related documentation and attach scanned documents to patients' healthcare records

Support all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested.

  • Experience of working within an office environment
  • Experience of working autonomously but also under instruction
  • An understanding of the importance of confidentiality in the workplace and being able to follow data protection policies and guidelines

Desirable

  • Experience of working in primary care
  • Experience of working in a GP practice
  • Knowledge and experience with DOCMAN and EMIS clinical systems is preferred

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
