A busy 7-partner practice is seeking an enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our friendly team at our Surgery in Wimborne, Dorset. The key elements of this role include:

  • ECG recording
  • Health Checks
  • wound care
  • phlebotomy
  • blood pressure monitoring
  • administering vaccinations and injections under PSDs
  • maintaining accurate records and patient confidentiality

Main duties of the job

Working under the direct supervision of the Lead Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Administer flu, Pneumovax and B12 injections under PSD

INR* clinics Practitioner

Chaperoning duties

Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/ Nurses

Infection control monitoring, and cleaning

Blood Pressure monitoring

Vaccine/ cold chain storage, monitoring and recording and reporting

Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation

Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms

Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations

Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

Entering data on SystmOne

Work in the community to support frail patients

About us

A busy 7-partner practice is seeking an enthusiastic HCA to join our friendly team at our Surgery in Wimborne, Dorset. The Surgery has recently been rated as Good by CQC and has high levels of patient satisfaction and QOF achievements. The ideal candidate will be clinically skilled with general blood taking and NHS experience.

Our dynamic practice currently looks after 15,000 patients. We have 9 GPs and a highly supportive team of Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Phlebotomists, reception and administrative staff. The post holder will be a key team player in a patient-facing role with safety of our staff of utmost importance. The key elements of this role include:

  • maintaining accurate records and patient confidentiality
