Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to increase our Workflow
Medical Assistant team to five full time equivalent General Practice Assistants
(GPAs) working together across the South Dartmoor and Totnes Primary Care Network
(PCN).
The GPA role is seen as a critical and evolving post to
support safe, efficient, and effective patient care.
GPAs work supporting the practices across the PCNs clinical
teams, including doctors (GPs), advanced clinical practitioners (ACPs), paramedics,
clinical pharmacists and nurses, whose workload is often increased by
administrative tasks such as emails and clinical correspondence. Some of these
routine tasks dont necessarily need to be completed by a clinician. By
relieving some of this administrative burden, GPAs can help highly qualified
colleagues to make best use of their time, allowing them to focus on caring for
patients.
Interviews planned for Tuesday 17th October 2023.
Main duties of the job
A GPA will support general practice clinical teams across the PCN by performing the routine administration tasks and supporting clinical teams to liaise with outside agencies to enable them to continue with consultations.

PCNs help to joinupservices at a local level, focusing on the
specific needs of these local populations, with patients still accessing
routine GP appointments as they do now.
South Dartmoor & Totnes PCN is the collaboration
between five GP Surgeries in South Devon:
Leatside and Catherine House Surgeries in
Totnes.
South Brent Health Centre.
Buckfastleigh Medical Centre and

as leafy rural Devon in the South Hams and on Dartmoor. Three of our Surgeries
are next to the A38 Devon Expressway making our Network readily accessible from
further afield.
