Job summary
We have a vacancy for a Practice Nurse to join our established nursing
team. We are a small GP practice serving local village communities, striving to
provide a high standard of care and services.
The post is for 24 hours/week across 4 days Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
and Friday. There will also be an
occasional requirement to work on other days, including Saturday, to cover for
absent colleagues and to support the Practice provision of extended access to
patients.
The team consists of nurses, HCAs and a phlebotomist. Each nurse has an
area in which they have developed additional skills and interest.
Main duties of the job
Wound care, ulcer care, Doppler
Removal of
sutures
New patient
healthchecks
Travel advice
and vaccinations
ECGs
Annual reviews
for chronic diseases including asthma, diabetes, COPD, hypertension
Venepuncture,
including anticoagulation monitoring
Childhood and travel vaccinations
Requesting
pathology tests, including urine, swabs, blood
Maintenance and
cleaning of equipment used by the nursing team and GPs
Assisting with
stock control
Use of the EMIS
computer system to create and maintain accurate, contemporaneous and
appropriate clinical records
Management of EMIS tasks, emails etc, with appropriate response times and actions
Audits
Review and
development of protocols
Ensuring
up-to-date knowledge of NICE guidelines and PGDs
Participation
in clinical governance and other practice meetings
Administrative tasks associated with the nursing role
About us
As part of a rural community we are able to develop a close relationship
and knowledge of our patients, especially those with more extensive needs who
may be regular visitors to the surgery. This is important to us all and
maintaining and improving our patient services is the key driver for the whole
practice team. This job would suit an
experienced practice nurse or a nurse with experience in other settings who can
bring relevant, transferable skills to this role.
