Job summary
Were seeking one or two Salaried GPs to join our friendly team in the picturesque village of Bampton-in-the-Bush, Oxfordshire Cotswoldsfamously the Downton Abbey village set. Work 28 sessions/week with a flexible rota across our modern purpose-built Bampton surgery and our nearby Carterton branch.
Package: £11,400£12,000 per session DOE, BMA-based contract, NHS pension, 5 weeks annual leave (pro-rata) plus 1 weeks study leave. Special interests welcomed and supported; partnership may be an option once established.
We care for ~9,300 patients and are part of Rural West PCN. The team includes 2 GP partners, 5 salaried GPs (2 vacancies), 5 nurses, a nursing associate and HCAs, supported by ARRS colleagues (FCP, paramedic/ANP, clinical pharmacists, mental health worker, and health & wellbeing counsellor). The Early Visiting Service covers most home visits; there is no care-home responsibility and no extended hours requirement.
We use EMIS Web, Docman, AccuRx and iGPR (experience helpful, not essential). Our appointment model limits to 24 patient contacts/day with 15-minute slots and protected admin time. No duty doctor, and home visits are rare.
Facilities include a refurbished staff room, staff-only garden, nearby shops and ample parking at both sites.
Main duties of the job
Provide routine and urgent GP consultations (face-to-face, telephone and online) to assess, diagnose, treat and safety-net. Manage long-term conditions and medication reviews in line with NICE/local guidance. Handle results, documents, repeat prescriptions and patient queries within protected admin time. Make appropriate referrals and coordinate care with the wider MDT (nurses, pharmacists, FCP, mental health, etc.). Contribute to QOF, safeguarding, audits, significant event learning and clinical governance. Support service improvement and PCN initiatives, with opportunities for teaching/supervision if interested. Home visits are occasional; there is no routine duty-doctor or extended hours.
