We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time
Healthcare Assistant to come and join the friendly St Thomas Medical Group
Nursing Team.
The preferred hours are:- Mon, Thu & Fri 08:30
17:00 these can be negotiable for right applicant.
The Group have three sites across Exeter.
The Practice uses SystmOne.
The ideal candidate will have an excellent skill
mix, be friendly, have a good sense of humour and be flexible. The successful
candidates will be expected to work across sites.
We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic about
delivering excellent patient care, with good interpersonal/communication skills
and has the ability to work well independently as well as part of the
integrated team.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job
Undertake
patient health checks
Support
the practice nurse and patient with health promotion initiatives
Carry
out baseline observations such as ECG, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature,
pulse rate, and other appropriate clinical indicators recording findings
accurately
Undertake
wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
Support
the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
Carry
out BMI checks as directed
Act
as a chaperone as required
When
trained, undertake venepuncture
When
trained, administer flu vaccinations and other injectable therapies
When
trained, carry out ear irrigation under the supervision of the practice nurse
Ensure
specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
Provide
support during minor operations and contraception clinics as required
Ensure
all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
Ensure
clinical waste is managed in clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in
accordance with the practice IPC policy
Deliver
opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
