Job summary

We are looking to appoint an experienced practice nurse to join our team and would be happy to train the successful applicant in certain areas if you cannot meet all the essential specified criteria. We are a single site practice of 9000 patients and are situated midway between Swansea and Cardiff within one mile of the M4 corridor. This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly well established practice team and although working independently you would be well supported by six GP Partners and an excellent Health Care Assistant/Phlebotomist. We would be happy to accept any informal enquiries/questions regarding this role.

Main duties of the job

The Practice Nurse role covers general nursing duties and running specialist clinics which include Diabetes, CHD, COPD/Asthma care, Cytology, Childhood Immunisations and Travel Vaccination Clinics. A willingness to cover Phlebotomy duties would be expected when the Phlebotomist is on annual leave.

About us

We are looking to appoint an experienced Practice Nurse to join our team due to the retirement of our previous nurse. We are in commutable distance from both Cardiff and Swansea, just off Junction 37 of the M4. We are a single site practice with 9000 patients and comprise of six supportive and approachable GP Partners, an excellent HCA/Phlebotomist and an experienced team of friendly administrative staff, we operate a VISION computer system. The Practice works within the West Cluster Collaborative Team which supports a Community Chronic Disease Nurse who works in conjunction with the Practice team. This is a full time permanent post (35 hours per week). Salary would be based on qualifications and experience and annual leave entitlement would be five weeks per year pro rata.

Qualifications

Essential

  • RGN qualification.
  • Up to date Cervical Cytology Training.
  • Qualified in Phlebotomy.
  • Ability to run Wound Care Clinics.
  • Ability to run Chronic Disease Clinics.
  • Qualified to run Immunisation Clinic.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of traditional Practice Nurse duties is essential.
