Job summary
We are looking for a friendly, highly motivated person to join our busy Medical Administration Team based at Didcot Health Centre. The successful applicant will have good IT competencies, a strong background in administration, respect for confidentiality, and a clear and understanding telephone manner.
Main duties of the job
The principal focus of this role is to work alongside other team members to maintain accurate medical records for all our patients. This includes setting up new patient registrations, and uploading and appropriately recording clinical information from other healthcare providers. The role also involves answering patient enquiries about their medical test results.
The successful candidate will join our friendly and very supportive team of three Medical Records Administrators and two Medical Summarisers. All job-specific training will be given.

Registration of new patients
- Check and process paperwork for new patients
- Carry out electronic registration links daily and as required
- Prepare record folders on registration and file historical medical records on receipt
- Summarize previous medical history and enter information on computer record
- Process paperwork for patients deregistering from the practice.
Updating patient records - Import and process laboratory, radiology, and results of other investigations
- Process incoming hospital letters and direct to the appropriate clinician
- Download and process incoming reports from the Out Of Hours and ambulance services
- Liaise with hospital departments regarding urgent and/or missing results
- Providing other healthcare providers with key information when necessary.
Workflow of scanned documents - Scanning incoming paperwork
- File to the patient record, apply the appropriate code, and forward to the relevant clinician to respond
- Process returned documents and action further if requested.
Patient enquiries
- Answer calls from patients regarding test results and explain next steps, as outlined by their GP

- Ability to learn new software quickly
- Good knowledge of MS Office and web-based applications

- Basic knowledge of scanning
