We have a multi skilled team with a wealth of experience and are looking to welcome another Practice Nurse with all general practice nursing skills and ideally experience in diabetes to our team.

You will be fully supported by a broad clinical team comprising of GPs, Clinical Pharmacists, Practice Nurses, Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Health Care Assistants. It is a permanent role. To provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the Primary Healthcare Team. The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by an experienced RGN and, in addition, any roles agreed between the nurse and the doctors as appropriate, having regard to current training.
Job Responsibilities:
Essential clinical professional:
- Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
- Offer advice about childhood and adult vaccinations and ensure vaccines are administered under Patient Group Directions or Patient Specific directions. To include influenza, shingles and pneumococcal vaccinations.
- Offer a holistic approach to travel health by providing comprehensive advice to patients prior to travel including; vaccinations and medicines, safe sex, food hygiene and sun protection.
- Administer other injections, such as B12, Prostap, following practice protocols and Patient Specific Directives.
- Running NHS health checks and health promotion programmes by providing a holistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake and exercise, urinalysis, following practice protocol.
- Able to document consultations according to NMC guidelines
- Perform a holistic assessment of patients attending for cervical cytology smear tests.
- Perform venepuncture according to local guidelines, including INR services
- Provide a holistic approach to wound management and implement wound care in line with current evidence based guidelines. To include suture removal
- Take ECGs
- Undertake Doppler, provide measurements for GPs, desirable but not essential.
- Able to recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines.
- Able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UK guidelines.
- Ability to obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written).
- Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained.
