Job summary
We have a
vacancy for a Practice Phlebotomist working 16 hours per week, to be worked 2-
3 days by negotiation.
Working under the
direction of the lead nurse and as part of the practice multidisciplinary team,
you will be responsible for performing venepuncture, as requested by the
clinical team, to the entitled patient population. In addition, the
Phlebotomist will be expected to support the nursing team as required.
This is a
pivotal role in delivering high quality care to our patients. We are looking for a Phlebotomist with a
knowledge of working within a general practice environment, to join our
supportive and friendly team.
Main duties of the job
Your core tasks
will be:
Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
Maintaining accurate patient records on TPP Systmone (clinical
system name).
The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples.
Effective use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies
Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner.
Maintaining an effective liaison with the laboratory staff at the
Royal United Hospital
Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance
when necessary for patient related matters
