Job summary
The
Paramedic will provide care for the presenting patient from initial history
taking and clinical assessment through to the diagnosis, treatment and
evaluation of care. They will demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical
decision-making process, including assessment and diagnostic skills, leading to
the delivery of safe care for all patients. They will work collaboratively with
the Healthcare Team to meet the needs of the patients, supporting the delivery
of policy and procedures. The Paramedic will provide a holistic and clinical
service, with support from GPs as required, implementing agreed management
plans and following approved protocols as appropriate.
Main duties of the job
On a typical day, the Paramedic will be expected to carry out both face to face and telephone triage, there may also be a number of home visits depending on the demand. The role will involve a consultation with patients who present on the day and via booked appointments. The Paramedic may also perform ward rounds at Care Homes, which will include the construction and implementation of individual patient care plans. The successful candidate will have direct contact with patients,
taking medical histories, carrying out physical examinations, updating records,
making diagnoses, analysing test results, undertaking home visits and
delivering treatment. Working to a professional code of ethics you will be able
to demonstrate flexibility in the role and have a caring attitude towards
patients.

across Bradford on Avon and Melksham Towns and Villages. We have a growing
population of c. 47,000 patients.
Mentorship and supervision will be provided by designated senior medical personnel. The level and type of supervision will be dependent on the post holders acquisition of skills and knowledge and determined by the organisations clinical governance arrangements. The practices hold regular education meetings and the Paramedic would be expected to attend and partake in these.

Qualifications
Essential
- Relevant degree (e.g. BSc Paramedic Sciences) or considerable relevant experience.
- HCPC registered
- Excellent clinical skills evidenced through CPD
- Completed 2 year consolidation in learning as a newly qualified paramedic
- Excellent clinical skills evidenced through CPD
Desirable
- Independent Prescriber qualification
- Ability to pass Higher Education modules
Experience
Essential
- Further 3 years experience as a band 6 (or equivalent) paramedic
- Working towards developing level 7 capability in paramedic areas of practice
- Proven previous experience of working within the NHS, in a multidisciplinary team in a similar role
- Experience of using databases, Word and Excel
- Understanding and commitment to equal opportunities
