Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a friendly, committed and supportive training practice based in a purpose built building in the heart of vibrant Kings Cross. 

With a focus on team working and patient care, we recognise the importance of a balanced work/home life and as a practice, we support each other and our staff to achieve this. 

We are a team of 8-doctors plus Registrars, F2s, Nurses, Pharmacists, HCAs and a large administration team. We serve a very diverse patient population of 12,400 patients and we have great links to the community via our PPG and other local community groups.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a patient-focused GP for 5 clinical sessions per week. You will have your own list of patients and be involved in teaching/training. You will join us for our daily huddles.

We would be equally happy to support someone newly qualified or learn from someone with much experience. Due to retirement a Partnership vacancy may arise in 2022.

Job description

Job responsibilities

During your defined hours of work you will provide NHS general medical services to registered patients on the practice list within our catchment area.

The service to be provided by you will include:

1. Responding to medical problems presented by patients on the practice medical list, including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate, including full use of EMIS. All patients have a usual doctor and you will be part of the practice personal list system.

2. Using appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions e.g. clinical templates and care planning.

3. Providing appropriate preventative health care and advice within the context of primary locality care.

4. Attending primary health care team meetings monthly and clinical meetings Thursday afternoons monthly and other meetings as necessary.

5. Clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties needed for the delivery of general medical services.

6. Providing other reports e.g. legal, for patients as required.

7. Maintain patients’ clinical records on EMIS including diary management.

8. Engaging in appropriate educational activity in order to maintain clinical and managerial competence and performance.

9. Liaising with other members of PHCT as appropriate.

10. Take responsibility for certain aspects of Quality Improvement by agreement, and clinical audits.

11. Be involved with teaching by covering the Registrar/F2 doctor on a rota basis and extra sessions by agreement.

12. Individual induction plan to be agreed and then minimum monthly meetings with your GP mentor / Line Manager at practice.

  • Fully Registered with GMC

  • On a Performers list

Desirable

  • DFSRH or equivalent
  • Other postgraduate membership or diplomas
  • Higher level of knowledge in relevant clinical area
  • Ability to use various GP software, including EMIS, Docman and e-referral
  • Language other than English
  • Skills in teaching e.g. undergraduates or covering Registrars

  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Working with patients from a wide variety of backgrounds and ethnic groups
