Job summary

Riverport Medical Practice are looking to appoint a Health Care Assistant (either part-time or full-time) to join our Clinical Team.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a positive and friendly HCA who demonstrates good initiative, prioritises patient care and works really well in a team. The ideal candidate will have experience working within General Practice or have worked as a phlebotomist.

About us

Riverport Medical Practice is a GMS Practice in Cambridgeshire with 3 surgeries in St Ives, Somersham and Fenstanton. The Practice list size is approximately 13,500. Our Practice has a diverse team including 8 GPs supported by a range of skilled clinicians and dedicated administrative support staff.

Riverport Medical Practice is a friendly, patient-focused practice which has recently been rated Good by CQC in all domains.

Job responsibilities

We are looking to recruit an HCA with experience in phlebotomy, recording blood pressure and carrying out ECGs. The ideal candidate may also have experience with wound dressings and immunisation, for example delivering the seasonal flu vaccine.

Experience working in General Practice and carrying out health checks would be ideal. 

Part-time or full-time opportunities available.

  • Knowledge and understanding of infection prevention and control
  • Thorough understanding of patient confidentiality
  • Understanding of importance of adult and child safeguarding
  • Experience working in a health care setting

Desirable

  • Evidence of training in Adult and Child Safeguarding
  • Evidence of training in Infection Prevention and Control
  • Experience using TPP clinical system, SystmOne
  • Experience working in General Practice

Other Requirements

Essential

  • Good communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible and willing to support the team by covering other shifts if required

Desirable

  • Ability to work across multiple Practice sites if necessary
  • Car driver with own transport

Qualifications

  • Good general standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent

  • Level 2 NVQ in Healthcare Support Services or equivalent
  • Care Certificate Standards
