Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and efficient Medical Summariser to join our administrative team. Experience as a medical coder and summariser in a medical field is essential, as is being proficient in EMIS Web.

Main duties of the job

  • Ensure that medical records are accurate and up to date, processing/coding daily medical communications using Docman
  • Summarising incoming medical records efficiently according to Practice protocols, reviewing GP2GP transfers and degraded allergy entries
  • Ensure that the records comply with legal, regulatory and ethical requirements, working strictly in accordance with the Notes Summarising Protocol.
  • Monitoring progress of notes summarising against practice targets, distribution of urgent and non-urgent documents and letters to clinicians will form part for the role in addition to basic administration work such as filing and retrieving paperwork
  • Coding breast cancer screening reports, bowel cancer screening, diabetic checks and lab results
  • Coding vaccination data from pharmacists, schools and other sources

Our list size is approximately 9,000 patients covered by 10 GPs, a nursing team and ARRS staff including Physicians Associates, Pharmacists, Social Prescribers all supported by our administrative staff.
