Job summary

Salaried GP required for 5-6 sessions a week.

Main duties of the job

  • To support the GP Partner
  • In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care;
  • Undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations & emergencies, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, filing & actioning test results, deal with paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems
  • Prescribing in accordance with locally/nationally agreed guidelines
  • Maintaining a personal professional portfolio;
  • A commitment to cover annual leave within the practice for each other (Lead Partner and Salaried GPs);

  • A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice (including annual appraisals and revalidation);

  • On occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks commensurate with the role, dependent upon factors such as workload & staffing levels.

About us

We look after approx. 12800 patients in both urban and rural settings.  St Martins Gate Surgery, is based in a large, modern, purpose-built medical centre with excellent parking facilities in central Worcester. 

We have 4 partners, 2 salaried GPs, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners and 2 Clinical Pharmacists together with a team of General Nurse Practitioners, a Nurse Associate and HCA’s.

We are proud to report that locally, through the GP Patient survey, we have attained the best surgery title for both 2021 and 2022 within Worcester City PCN Group together with being finalist for this year’s Mentor Awards delivered by our Nursing Team.

We attained high QOF achievement prior to COVID in 2018 and 2019 and consistently perform well across the various other local clinical indicators. Our clinical system is EMIS Web. Documents are processed using Docman, supported by our trained Document Management team to improve efficiency and reduce the volume of daily correspondence which our clinicians need to work through.
