Job summary
The E4 PCN Nurse role will work within our Primary Care Network Enhanced Access services to deliver a combination of sexual health services and core general practice nursing care.
This hybrid role will involve providing contraception services (including LARC fitting and removal), STI testing and treatment, and health promotion, alongside chronic disease management, immunisations, screening (including cervical), wound care management and general treatment room duties.
The post holder will contribute to high-quality, patient-centred care and improved health outcomes for our local population, working in partnership with GPs, practice nurses, and specialist services.

Main duties of the job
Provide sexual health consultations, including contraception advice, STI testing/treatment, pregnancy testing, and partner notification.
Fit and remove long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) including contraceptive implants and intrauterine devices/systems.
Deliver general practice nursing services such as wound care, dressings, phlebotomy, ECGs, ear irrigation, and chronic disease monitoring (e.g., asthma, COPD, diabetes).
Administer adult and childhood immunisations and injections in line with national guidelines.
Perform cervical screening (if trained) and support NHS screening programmes.
Promote healthy lifestyles, including sexual health, smoking cessation, weight management, and physical activity advice.
Work collaboratively with GPs, practice staff, and specialist services across the PCN.
Required Qualifications & Skills

Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration.

Experience in sexual health and/or general practice nursing.

Competency in LARC fitting and removal (FSRH Registered)

Cervical cytology training and accreditation (desirable)

Excellent communication, patient education, and organisational skills.

Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Provide contraception services, including oral contraceptives, injections, emergency contraception, and fitting/removal of LARC (implants and IUD/IUS).

Undertake STI testing, screening, and treatment, including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, HIV, and other infections.

Provide pregnancy testing, advice, and onward referral as required.

Undertake partner notification in line with best practice guidelines.

Promote sexual health awareness and safe sex practices.

Liaise with specialist sexual health and GUM services for complex cases.
General Practice Nursing

Provide treatment room services including wound care, dressings, ECGs, ear irrigation, phlebotomy, and suture removal.

Deliver adult and childhood immunisations and travel vaccinations according to national schedules.

Support chronic disease management clinics (e.g., asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension) in partnership with the clinical team.

Perform cervical screening (if trained and accredited).

Undertake NHS Health Checks and other preventative screening programmes.

Provide lifestyle and health promotion advice, including smoking cessation, weight management, and physical activity.

Assist in infection prevention and control measures and contribute to CQC compliance.

Maintain clinical competencies in both sexual health and general practice nursing, including LARC provision - Maintaining a register with log of fittings etc.

Keep accurate and timely patient records using EMIS Web or equivalent clinical systems.

Participate in service audits, quality improvement initiatives, and multidisciplinary meetings.
