The E4 Primary Care Network Ltd is looking to recruit General Practice Assistants to support our GP Practices with a skillset that includes administrative and clinical tasks
This is an exciting opportunity to learn and professionally develop within a Primary Care Network (PCN) which is known for its supportive and friendly approach to new team members.
You will be supported into this new role by the Primary Care Network in partnership with a local university. The E4 Primary Care Network Ltd. comprises of 5 member practices. The network is in a period of significant growth and development making it an exciting time to be joining the PCN team.
Main duties of the job
A GPA will support the
GP(s) smooth running of clinics by performing the more routine administration
and clinical tasks on behalf of the GP freeing up their time to focus on the
patient.

Primary Care Networks are groups of GP practices working closely together - along with other healthcare staff and organisations - providing integrated services to the local population.
The E4 Primary Care Network Ltd. includes Chingford Medical Centre, Churchill Medical Practice, The Old Church Surgery, The Ridgeway Surgery and Handsworth Medical Practice. The practices have a very strong collaborative working relationship. We strive to ensure we deliver exceptional patient care.
We have an interesting and diverse population, ranging from the young to the elderly with a patient list size of over 52,000 patients. We also support over 300 residents who are living in local Care Homes.
We maximise on our collaborative approach including the use of Additional Roles to strengthen communities and reduce inequalities in health.
The successful candidate will be an employee of the E4 Network Ltd However, their work will be both PCN and practice-based under the direction of the Service Delivery Manager.

Job responsibilities
The
following are the core responsibilities of the GP Assistant working across
the five PCN Practices within the E4 Primary Care Network. There may be on
occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon
factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- Obtaining
patient consent
- Fridge
temperature maintenance and recording
- Working
collaboratively with the PCN & PCN Practices nursing teams, seeking guidance
when necessary for patient related matters
- Maintaining
accurate patient records on EMIS & SystmOne
- Baseline
observation taking and recording such as Blood Pressure, Pulse, Temperature
- Urinalysis
- Facilitate
routine & 24-hour Blood Pressure Testing
- Performing
ECG and Spirometry
- BMI
check and recording
- Ethnicity
recording
- Supporting
with chronic disease management such as Diabetes Foot Health Checks
- Keep
updated on IIF & QOF targets and seek opportunity to deliver services to the
PCN & Practices helping achieve such
- Immunisations and Vaccinations (such as Flu & Covid) under a PSD (directed by GP/Clinical Lead)
- New
Patient Health Checks As required by individual Practices.
- NHS
Health Check
- Delivery of the NHS Health Check
- Following the Health Check protocol for escalation of
elevated results
- Taking of Lipids via POC device
- Provide patient with self-care/health promotion advice
based on outcome of NHS Health Check
- Source and replenish health promotion literature for the
PCN and PCN Practices
- Work with the PCN & PCN Practices to ensure that
yearly delivery and recall targets are met
SMI
Health Check
- Delivery of the 7 elements of the SMI Health Check
- Following the SMI Health Check protocol for escalation of
elevated results
- Work with the PCN & PCN Practices to ensure that
yearly delivery and recall targets are met
- Ensure that appropriate GP follow-up is booked for
patient.
Venepuncture
1.
Performing venepuncture in accordance with PCN protocols.
2.
The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples.
3.
Effective use of the specimen log, resolving any
discrepancies
4.
Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely
manner
5.
Maintaining an effective liaison with the laboratory
staff at Royal London ESL.
6.
Maintain an effective liaison with the E-Courier
service.
7.
Delivery of venepuncture to the Housebound population of
the E4 Network.
8.
Collect patient satisfaction survey and analysis results
Ensure
Clinical Waste & Sharps are removed from clinical rooms and accordance
with the PCN IPC and Clinical Waste policies.
