Park Farm Medical Centre & The Vernon Street
Surgery are looking for a Medicine's Administrator to join our friendly team,
primarily based at our Park Farm site in Allestree.
As a Medicine's Administratoryou will assist
patients by dealing with their medication enquiries, processing medication
requests and signposting them to the most appropriate service or healthcare
professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Main duties of the job
The Medicines Administrator will provide support to
the GPs, Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurses and Pharmacists in the receipt and
preparation of prescriptions for our patients.
You will be the main point of
contact for Patients and the MOLs (Medicines Order Line) enquiries about their
prescriptions, therefore organisation, communication and resilience is
important. You will be liaising with patients on sensitive medical information,
so a caring, empathetic style is essential. Initiative is also important in
helping to resolve medication issues and queries.

achieving, well organised and established practice. Our largest surgery is
based at the Park Farm Shopping centre in Allestree, with our branch surgery on
Vernon Street, in the Friar Gate area of Derby. The practice has nearly 13,000
registered patients across the two sites.

The Medicine's Administrator will assist patients in obtaining their medication in a timely and safe manner, directing patients to the appropriate services when required.
The post-holder will Manage requests for repeat prescriptions from patients,
pharmacies, Medicines Order-line (MOLs)
and care homes. They will Produce repeat prescriptions using GP practice software and assist in drug monitoring in line with agreed
protocols, including shared care drug monitoring.
The medicine's Administrator must have an understanding of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)
and be confident in its explanation to patients. They should be able to respond efficiently to a demanding pressure from
telephone calls whilst maintaining accuracy and ability to follow up all
queries in a timely manner.
They must manage and complete the appropriate tasks and ensure that
GPs and other prescribing clinicians have access to electronic or paper prescriptions for signing within an
appropriate timescale. An additional responsibility will be to ensure that patients are not over ordering prescription items,
are only ordering items that they require at that time and informing of
any items that they are no longer taking to ensure that patient safety is
paramount.
The Medicine's Administrator will develop good working relationships with Patients, GPs, nurses and other surgery staff, in addition to external organisations, such as Community Pharmacy. They must managepatient files and related admin to the required quality standards and in line with information governance, GDPR and DPA regulations.

Essential
- GCSE in English and Maths at Grade C or above, or equivalent experience.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services
- Medicines Administrator / Prescription Clerk Training or Medicines Optimisation Training
