Petersgate Medical Centre is a friendly, forward thinking, well established training practice in North Doncaster.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to diversify and develop our reception team with the introduction of a Receptionist/ Care Navigators. The position is for 25 hours a week over 3-4 days.
The role of Care Navigator is developmental in nature and will continue to evolve. Successful applicants will need to be able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to working in a dynamic environment. This is a non-clinical role acting as a bridge between the clinical, administrative, community and local voluntary care services with the aim of providing the patient and their carers an optimal health experience.
The role of care navigator is pivotal is supporting a self-management approach to care ensuring that the patient and their carers are at the centre and an active part of shared decision making.
We are passionate about training and feel we provide a nurturing environment for team members to become integrated into this as well.
Main duties of the job
The post requires you to be flexible, responding to varying demands and changing circumstances. Communication, team work, motivated hard work ethic and enthusiastic are essential qualities to succeed in this role. Previous experience in a healthcare reception office is desirable, however full training will be given. Flexibility to cover additional hours for holidays and sickness are essential.

Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Job Responsibilities:
Administration
- To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures
- To work in accordance of written protocols
- Scan relevant documents in to patient records
Reception
- Receiving patients consulting with members of Practice team, directing to self arrival where appropriate.
- Promote services to patients i.e online registration, patient partner, texting.
Appointments
- Process appointment requests for appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
- Deal with visits requests
Telephone
- Answer all calls promptly using the practice script.
- Deal with queries as per the practices protocols.
Other Tasks
- Ensure building security is maintained.
- Any other tasks allocated by Senior Administrators/Practice Manager

- In the course of seeking treatment, patients
entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation
to their health and other matters.
They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff
will respect their privacy and act appropriately
