Job summary

The Park Surgery is seeking a highly motivated and capable Operations Manager to support the ongoing delivery of high-quality, efficient, and patient-centred care. This is a key leadership role, working closely with the Practice Manager and wider management team to ensure the smooth running of all operational and administrative functions within the practice.

You will be responsible for ensuring the practice complies with all NHS contractual obligations while also ensuring we comply with CQC regulations.

You will be responsible for the day to day HR functions within the Practice, training, management and patient communications. You will also lead on all practice meetings ensuring essential communication is shared with the relevant colleagues.

You will lead on and manage all aspects of human resources and recruitment processes for The Park Surgery. This role is responsible for developing and executing effective recruitment strategies, overseeing the full on boarding process and providing key HR functions including employee relations, performance management and compliance.

Main duties of the job

You'll need to be an inspirational leader and great line manager.

Putting delivery of high quality services at the forefront of what you do, ensuring excellence in communication and engagement of staff, service users and stakeholders.

Enabling all staff within the practice to understand the strategic direction and encouraging their contribution to its development.

Fostering effective communications and staff involvement.

Manage staff in line with policies and procedures. Leading for HR within the practice.

Corporate Governance including policy development, structure development to support organisational function, facilitate internal meetings to support CQC requirements as well as operational service delivery at the practice.

About us

Also known as the Capital of the Wolds, Driffield is a thriving market town and a national centre for agriculture, annually holding one of the largest agricultural shows in Britain.

The Park Surgery, located close to the town centre, is a 15,000 patient, purpose-built, dispensing practice with 3 GP partners and 54 members of staff and a good CQC rating. We also have a branch surgery in the picturesque village of Nafferton. We are lucky to have a multidisciplinary clinical team with a culture of staff development and a focus on teaching. We are a teaching practice with a number of GP registrars, Foundation 2 doctors and strong ties with the local medical school. The Practice is part of the Wolds and Coast PCN.You will be supported by the Practice manager, Finance Officer and the Department Heads.

Convene meetings, prepare agendas and ensure distribution of minutes as necessary

Develop Practice protocols and procedures, review and update as required

Act as a contact for NHS, ICB, community services, suppliers and other external stakeholders

Business planning

Participate in the setting of practice objectives, priorities and targets for action and monitor the implementation of objectives to meet such targets as required.

Ensure that the senior management team has access to relevant information to allow decision making when the practice manager is not immediately available.

Work with partners to develop a short (1 year) and long term (8 years) business plans for the practice.

Develop and maintain a good understanding of the GMS and PCN DES contracts

Keep up-to-date with any contractual changes and work with partners to develop a plan to achieve any new targets or requirements.

Financial Management

Liaise with the Accountants, bank representatives and Health Authority

Oversee day-to-day management of the practice financial systems.

Positively contribute to the ongoing financial stability of the practice

Ensure the practice receives any payments owed in a timely fashion
