Job summary

  • Coding and summarising of clinical data and reports from various sources into patients records in accordance with BMA Good Practice Guidelines for electronic records.

Main duties of the job

  • Coding and summarising of clinical data and reports from various sources into patients records in accordance with BMA Good Practice Guidelines for electronic records.
  • Ensuring letters from external sources are allocated to the correct files.
  • Checking of data to ensure accuracy.
  • Summarise existing patient records onto the computer and culling of patients notes.
  • Good communication required with both external and internal Depts.
  • Ensure the clinical computer system is kept up to date with accurate details recorded.
  • Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care.
  • Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports.
  • Regular update of system reviews as required and attendance to training in this regard.
  • Regular update and awareness of read code changes.
  • Distribute general emails to appropriate members of the team.
  • Action EMIS and Docman tasks
  • Administrative duties to include the patient recall system such as PA Stats.
  • Awareness of GP contract requirements.
  • To be involved in the training of new staff as delegated by the Partners or Practice Manager.
  • Attend and participate in practice meetings as required.
  • Attend mandatory and appropriate training as required.
  • Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post including photocopying, filing and scanning.
