Job summary

We are looking to expand our team with Multi Disciplinary Professionals to work alongside the GP Triage team and to provide a safe and efficient day to day service for patients with acute conditions. we are looking for a prescribing clinician, with minor illness experience.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients with minor illness presentations
  • Take clinical history and perform physical examinations
  • Diagnose common acute conditions
  • Prescribe medications (if Independent Prescriber)
  • Provide treatment plans and safety-netting advice
  • Order and interpret basic investigations (e.g., urine dip, throat swabs)
  • Refer to GP, urgent care, or hospital when necessary
  • Document consultations in clinical systems (EMIS)

Main duties of the job

AMinor Illness Nurse or Paramedicin General Practice will assess, diagnose, and treatpatients presenting withnon-life-threatening acute conditions. The role often includesindependent clinical decision-making, and when qualified,independent prescribing.

This role helps reduce GP workload and improves patient access to same-day care.

The clinics will be daily and dependant on the skills and experience of the successful candidate may include home visiting, or speciality clinics i.e. respiratory or paediatrics.

Assess patients withminor illness presentations

Takeclinical history and perform physical examinations

Diagnose common acute conditions

Prescribe medications (ifIndependent Prescriber)

Providetreatment plans and safety-netting advice

They will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care, including assessment and diagnostic skills, for patients within the general practice.

The post holder will demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing nurse leadership as required. To work at this level NMC requirements for advanced practice must be met.

The post will be subject to a 3 month probationary period.

Clinical practice
