We are ideally looking for a candidate who has worked in General Practice and has knowledge of System 1. Although consideration will be given to others. We are currently looking for a Care Navigator who wishes to have a part time position, 25 hours per week. Hours will be over four sessions per week, between 8am to 1.30pm and 1pm to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.

The Practice has 2 GP Partners and two Salaried GP's & a Paramedic, as well as a Nursing Team. The post of Care Navigator/receptionist is to help patients to be directed to the most appropriate service for their needs.

We have a team of four Receptionists, in addition to this post, who are supported by our Administrative Team. The successful applicant will be invited to join the NHS Pension Scheme.

This is a rewarding job and a good starting point for anyone who wants to join the NHS. Full training will be given to those who have not worked in General Practice.

Main duties of the job

As well as being one of the first points of contact to the surgery, you will be greeting patients when they arrive. Further duties to include answering the telephone, answering emails, making appointments, signposting patients to other healthcare providers, supporting the team with general office duties, patient queries, dealing with an array of healthcare professionals. Passing on information to the Practice Team, regarding our patients. Other responsibilities include, assisting with the administration ofour Childhood Immunisation clinics and working as part of a small team.

About us

The Non Clinical Team consists of the Practice Manager, Administrator, Care Co-ordinator & 4 Receptionists.

The Clinical Team consists of 4 GP's, 2 Paramedics, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses, & a Healthcare Assistant. Along with a team of Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Social Prescriber and Care Co-ordinators.

We have a list size of 6600 patients and are based on the outskirts of Northampton Town Centre.

  • Level One Functional Skills in English and Maths

  • Previous experience of working as part of a small time and being able to multi task is advantageous.
  • Experience of call handling is essential.
  • Having empathy with our patients but still work within the constraints of General Practice and being able to adapt to different situations, which arise during the working day.

Desirable
