    Main duties of the job

    Main duties

    • Deliver high-quality, patient-centred primary care
    • Manage a range of clinical presentations via face-to-face and remote consultations
    • Participate in duty doctor rota and home visiting (supported by paramedic team)
    • Review pathology, correspondence and clinical queries
    • Contribute to QOF, enhanced services and practice development
    • Engage in clinical meetings, audits and quality improvement work
    • Support teaching, training and supervision where appropriate
    • Work collaboratively with the wider MDT and external stakeholders

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

    A good standard of patient medical care

    To carry out personal medical services expected from a General Practitioner and record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards

    To do home visits and participate in duty doctor rota

    To attend Practice, clinical and external meetings

    To render assistance with any extra services where needed

    Liaise with external authorities as required

    Conform to practice procedures for QOF, prescribing incentive schemes, GP Confederation and other enhanced services and directives as stipulated by the ICB/NHS England/Government or the Practice

    To do extended hours on a Rota basis

    Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision

    To do telephone consultations and telephone triage

    Handling of pathology & radiology results, clinical letters and queries from generic email.

    Benefit Agency reports, Social Services reports, Insurance reports and the like, where the patient is being dealt with by Salaried GP.

    To participate in Practice audit

    Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat to do and review prescriptions as and when required. Prescribe in accordance with the accepted prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

    To do Referral letters for patients seen

    To cover for other Doctors on annual leave/study leave

    To update and summarise patients computer records from letters received

    To teach and supervise students/GP Registrars/Nurses, FY2 doctors and other attached placement doctors as and when required

    To be punctual, effectively manage own time, workload and resources

    To conduct and dress yourself in a professional manner

    To maintain a good working relationship with staff, doctors and patients.

    Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the teams performance and service expansion

    To prepare and participate in CQC visit
