Job summary
As part of this team of 4 Physician Associates,
you will be an experienced PA working in local GP practice, with an existing Physician Associate, and provide relevant clinical advice
for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment,
diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. You will demonstrate safe,
clinical decision-making and expert care, including assessment and diagnostic
skills.
You will demonstrate critical
thinking in the decision-making process. Under the supervision of a GP and the
PCN Clinical Director, you will work collaboratively as part of the Primary
Care team and provide clinical advice to meet the needs of patients, and their
relatives/carers, while at all times working within the agreed policies and
procedures and professional guidance supporting the way care is provided.
Authority
to assess and treat will be granted in line with demonstrated skills and
competencies. Mentorship and supervision will be provided by a designated GP at
all times. . Opportunities and support will be given
for successful candidates to broaden their relevant skill base.
Main duties of the job
Provide clinical advice and treatment to patients as agreed by the
supervising GP in line with practice policy and established guidelines
Consult with and refer patients to GPs, and other health professionals after discussion with supervising GP
Interview patients, take medical histories, perform physical
examinations, analyse, diagnose and explain medical problems
Formulate and adjust diagnoses and treatment plans, with supervising GP
Recommend and
explain to patients diagnostic tests and treatment
Educate patients
in preventative healthcare
Order lab tests
as required and in line with set parameters
Document all aspects of patient care and complete paperwork for legal
and administrative purposes
Perform research and analysis tasks associated with medical diagnosis
and treatment
Give relevant clinical
instructions to nursing
staff and PC Team
as
required
Encourage and ensure good working
relationships with all members of the Primary Care Team, use MDT working when appropriate
Implement practice policies and procedures of the practice in which the post holder is working
Flexible
with working pattern, undertake other duties appropriate to grade as required
by the PCN
