Job summary

The Rowans Surgery is a 7000 patient general practice in Mitcham looking for a motivated GP who is passionate about delivering high quality care to join their friendly team.

We benefit from working closely with our neighbouring practices in the East Merton Primary Care Network and have strong clinical leadership with 6 salaried GPs, 2 nurses and a full time pharmacist working together. The population we serve is diverse with scope to develop interests in a variety of areas. We are passionate about giving all our staff opportunities to develop and progress their career and prioritise staff health and wellbeing.

We are seeking 10 GP sessions.

Annual salary - £9,500 - 13000 per session with top up indemnity paid.

The contract is based on the BMA standard contract

Position is available as soon as you can start.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will carry out all the duties reasonably expected of an NHS general practitioner using the standards expected by the GMC and RCGP in line with appropriate national and/or local guidelines.

We would want you to be an enthusiastic and capable clinician who loves general practice and wants to deliver high quality primary care.

Job description

Job responsibilities

In accordance with the Practice rota, be available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Prescribe in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

Ensure compliance with all relevant company, local and national guidelines and legislation

Adhere to safeguarding requirements and deal appropriately with complaints, incidents and alerts using the practice systems and policies

Adhere to all practice clinical governance policies

Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Collect data for audit purposes and for compliance with QOF requirements

Attendance at educational and clinical team meetings.

Follow the practice clinical performance review process

Commit to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice

Meet CPD requirements and keep personal, mandatory and/or organisational training up to date, including any training programme implemented by the Practice as part of this employment

Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision.

Support the practice in achieving contractual targets

Participate in opportunities for new or expanding services at the surgery to support the practice development plan.

Communicate effectively with other team members, patients and carers
