Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking individual to provide a high quality service and contribute substantially to our Practice team.

We are looking to recruit a full time clinical administrator/coder to join our existing administration team.

Applicants should have advanced computer skills and a knowledge of medical terminology. Applicants should also have a good attention to detail and work with a high level of accuracy.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate good organisational skills and an ability to prioritise their workload effectively.

Prior experience of working with the clinical computer system, SystmOne, and an understanding of clinical coding is essential.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a team processing all correspondence from hospitals and other health care providers.

You will scan all paper documentation into the system and also monitor the NHS mailbox.

All incoming correspondence needs to be reviewed, coded accurately and distributed amongst the clinical team as appropriate and in a timely manner.

You will process any actions from clinical letters and other communications.

You will also provide secretarial support to the GPs as required.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Clinical Administrator/Coder:-

There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

a. Accurately clinically coding data on SystmOne into the patient record.

b. Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed actions/tasks, forwarding to relevant clinical staff as needed.

c. Inputting and extracting data as required to support practice reports.

d. Scanning, filing and processing Lloyd George records as required.

e. Photocopying documentation as required.

f. Actioning all incoming correspondence, emails, mail and tasks in a timely manner, including allocating tasks, arranging appointments, generating blood test forms, contacting consultants/hospitals, chasing results etc.

g. Scanning patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records.

h. Inputting data into patients healthcare records as necessary.

i. Answering incoming telephone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately.

j. Using AccuRx to communicate with patients and allocating requests to the appropriate person.

k. Carrying out system searches as requested.
