Main duties of the job
The Healthcare Assistant will support the clinical team in delivering high-quality patient care within the GP practice. Duties include carrying out basic clinical procedures, supporting health promotion and long-term condition management, assisting nurses and clinicians during treatments and minor procedures, and helping with patient assessments where appropriate.
The role also involves preparing and handling clinical specimens, acting as a chaperone when required, maintaining clean and safe clinical environments, and following all relevant clinical protocols, safeguarding requirements and infection prevention policies. The Healthcare Assistant will work closely with the wider practice team, contribute to patient safety and service delivery, and support administrative tasks when needed.

Recognise the boundaries of the role and refer patients appropriately when necessary.
Support the delivery of enhanced services and other practice service requirements.
