This is a very busy, demanding and varied role in a GP practice based in Mile Oak, Portslade.

We are looking for a part-time Administrator to join our team.

Main duties of the job

You will be supporting the clinical team with referrals to outside services, letters, reports, emails and telephone enquiries from patients and other health and social care organisations. You will also attend meetings and be responsible for taking the minutes. Being proactive and having an eye for detail is a must in this role.

The work involves extensive use of email, Microsoft Office applications, Electronic Referral System (ERS), telephones and working with the wider team.

The position is for 20-30 hours per week - hours to be confirmed.

The role is always a busy and varied one and our patients are very friendly, though there are times when you may have to deal with people who are anxious, upset or challenging.

Previous experience of working in a healthcare setting and understanding of medical terminology would be useful and experience of working with patients, customers or the general public would be an advantage. We will offer full training and support.

About us

Mile Oak Medical Centre is a very busy GP practice based in Portslade, East Sussex with over 8,500 registered patients.

Supporting the whole practice team is very important to us and we have a daily morning huddle, weekly clinical meetings and lunch together every day. We are busy but have put in place lots of techniques to take the pressure off the clinicians while providing excellent patient centred care. We have an expanding multidisciplinary team including a pharmacy team and we also have Primary Care Network ARRS staff attached to the practice including a social prescriber, mental health workers and a physiotherapist.

We have an excellent reputation as being innovative and forward-thinking, whilst offering a high standard of patient care. We are a well-established training practice for GPs and Nursing students, are situated in a large purpose built premises and a member practice of West Hove PCN. With the help of the whole team, we are striving to become the greenest practice in Brighton.
