Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Newly Qualified GP (ARRS role), the post holder will join our friendly Clinical Team to work at Stretton Medical Centre.

The vacancy is a fixed term contract till end of March 2025 1 session per week.

We are acting in line with NHS England guidance for the recruitment of GPs funded by the Additional Roles Reimbursement GP Recruitment Scheme.

Applicants must not have been substantively employed as a General Medical Practitioner in a general medical practice previously, subject to express agreement with the commissioner

The General Medical Practitioner is not beyond the second anniversary of their certificate of completion of training, issued by the General Medical Council, at the start of their employment or engagement.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will provide general medical services managing a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Job responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manage a clinical caseload.

2. Take part in leading on key disease areas (monitoring trends in the Quality and Outcomes Framework treatment, staff training and prescribing).

3. Assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for a diverse, patient list (practice based commissioning, patient participation and health promotion).

4. In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will be available to undertake a number of clinical sessions including queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, actioning test results, medical reports and examinations (e.g. Insurance Companies) on behalf of the Practice. 5. These duties should be performed in a timely manner using agreed protocols.

6. Appointments will be 10 minutes duration and telephone appointments will be of 10 minutes duration. A student or learner maybe attached for this session.

7.Act upon most alerts (e.g. QOF) and reminders during a routine consultation i.e. (10 minutes).

8. Respond to medical problems presented by patients, including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate.

9. Provide appropriate preventative health care and advice.

10. Provide medical support as required to patients referred by nursing staff.

11. Provide free certification in line with Schedule 9 of NHS GMS Regulations (1992).

12. Adhere to the practice prescribing formulary, local and national guidelines.

13. Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self- referred or referred from other health care workers within the Trust.

14. Record clear and contemporaneous I.T. based consultation notes to agreed standards.

15. Collect data for audit purposes.

16. Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).

17. Engaging in appropriate lifelong educational and audit activity in order to maintain clinical competence and performance, including the completion of objectives agreed by yourself and the practice, in an annual Personal Development Plan. Your Personal Development Plan must be in line with the Practice Development Plan.

18. Actively participating in the training and development of nurses, medical students and GP trainees in the practice.

19. Supporting the practice staff and responding to requests for advice and assistance from the practice reception, secretarial and nursing staff.

20. Attend prescribing, palliative care, clinical and practice meetings.

21. Provide additional enhanced services to the practices that meet the needs of the practices patient population and maximise the income streams to the practice.

22. Undertake additional training where necessary to provide these enhanced services.

23. Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, annual QOF Assessment of the Practice.
