Job summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Health Care Assistant who has a genuine interest in providing safe and effective care for patients.
The successful candidate must have demonstrable experience, with a wide range of clinical skills and will be confident to work without direct supervision.
We invite Heath Care Assistants with previous experience working in primary care to apply, but this is not essential as successful candidates will be offered training and support.
Main duties of the job
The role of a HCA in primary care is varied and this role will include annual health checks, NHS health checks, bloods, ECGs, room stocking possibly some vaccinations.
To be responsible for the ordering of clinical supplies
To maintain high standards of personal hygiene adhering to Health and Safety Guidelines and Infection Control Guidelines.
To respect confidential information during the course of your work and refrain from discussing such information without the consent of the patient/client or a person entitled to act on his/her behalf, except where disclosure is required by law or by the Order of a Court or is necessary in the public interest.
About us
We are a growing practice with approximately 8000 patients registered.
We are based over 2 sites :
Stretton Medical centre and Stretton Branch surgery.
The nursing team is made up of 2 Practice Nurses currently.
We also have our GPs, Practice Manager, Admin and Reception team, ARRS Roles who provide first contact physios, pharmacy technicians and Mental Health nurses.

- NHS health checks and annual checks for patients with long term conditions
- ECG recording
- Phlebotomy
- Assisting the Practice Nurse with annual reviews; hypertension, CHD, Stroke and Peripheral Arterial Disease.
- Administer B12 injections, flu vaccinations, covid vaccines
- Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
- Chaperoning duties
- Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
- Cleansing and maintenance of medical equipment
- Vaccine/cold chain storage monitoring and recording of fridge temperatures.
- Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
- Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
- Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
- Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
- Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice policy

- Level 2 Qualification in Health and Social care
