Job summary
The lead practice nurse will
work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services
to the patients of the practice, as part of a shift system operated between
0830-2000 daily, potentially including weekends and bank holidays. To be a
point of contact and support to the practice nurse team and to ensure the
clinical management team is kept up to date and informed of all relevant
information.
Main duties of the job
General Practice Nursing duties including but not limited to Cervical cytology, wound care, chronic disease management, routine childhood and adult immunisations, and assist in and performing routine tasks related
to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
To support the Clinical Management team with
developing, implementing, and embedding health promotion and wellbeing programmes.
Develop and review audit protocols and process for the practice,
effectively utilising the audit cycle
Support all members of the practice nurse team, providing guidance when
necessary, conducting appraisals and training needs analyses as required.
Liaise with
the Infection Control Lead regularly to ensure all current standards are being
met
Support the clinical management team with reviewing clinical practices,
responding to national policies and initiatives where appropriate
Lead the planning and implementation of changes within the nursing team,
enhancing the provision of services to patients
Support the practice team with the reviewing and implementation of
practice policies and protocols, ensuring conformance to extant legislation
To delegate clinical responsibilities appropriately (ensuring safe
practice and the task is within the scope of practice of the individual)
Play an active role in the delivery and achievement of target and
contract-based activities e.g. QOF, DES, IFF etc

Beechfield
Medical Centre is a 21,500 patient GMS practice operating from purpose built
premises in the heart of the beautiful market town of Spalding in South
Lincolnshire.

Pharmacist and a range of roles as part of our commitment to a Primary Care
Network. We are an accredited provider of AQP services for minor surgical procedures. We utilise the EMIS (Web) Clinical System,
and operate an on the day triage system between the Duty Doctor and our Nurse
Practitioners.
We
are part-dispensing, and a highly regarded training practice (with normally 2
trainees in situ) and have an active and supportive Patient Participation Group
helping to ensure that we are listening to the needs of our large patient base.
