Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with considerable experience of Business Management- ideally within a Primary Care Organisation.

This role requires financial, operational, and strategic input, so we are seeking someone with high levels of financial acumen, business planning and budget setting. Previous successful line management is essential.

Candidates are expected to bring strong interpersonal skills.

The Partners require the successful candidate to be proactive and plan for the future, maximising the practices potential income in relation to business, finance, and collaborative relationships.

You will provide clear and positive leadership and vision to the strategic business management of Farnham Park Health Group and will be expected to constantly review and recommend strategies for its development and effectiveness.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include Finance, Strategic Planning, Information Governance & Technology and Communication.

About us

Farnham Park Health Group is a large, friendly, training practice in the Georgian market town of Farnham, with good local schools and excellent transport links to London. The surgery is located within a modern purpose-built building with free parking. We have a list size of £17,000 patients and are committed to delivering patient care through innovation and collaboration with our patients, PCN, and external services. We work collaboratively with other Farnham practices both within our PCN and as part of Farnham Integrated Care Services, offering same day access appointments, MSK and mental health practitioners, home visiting paramedics and social prescribers. X-ray walk -in service, ultrasound and phlebotomy are all available within Farnham Centre for Health. Our team consists of 4 GP Partners, 6 salaried GPs, advanced paramedic practitioner, practice manager, nurses, HCAs, clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and a team of admin and reception staff and team leaders. The practice merged three years ago, and we continue to work to provide the best care for our patients. Job responsibilities

Finance

Work closely with the practice manager to;

Manage the financial elements of the organisation, including budgets, bank accounts, accounting system, petty cash, etc. seeking to maximise income and reduce expenditure in conjunction with the partners

Maintain an effective liaison with the accountant, overseeing organisation accounts, ensuring year-end figures are presented.

Brief partners on financial matters, including forecasting.

Manage and process partners drawings PAYE and pensions for staff

Support the partners to develop and implement processes to achieve business objectives including maximising income from QOF targets (supported by the nursing and admin team)

Ensuring the organisation has appropriate insurance cover (employee, locum, building, medical indemnity etc) in place

Developing implementing and embedding an efficient business resilience plan.

Leading change and continuous improvement initiatives, coordinating projects within the organisation.

Coordinating and leading the compilation of organisation reports and the practice development plan (PDP)

Make recommendations to the Partners for business development with regard to potential sources of income

Strategic Planning

Overall responsibility for the strategic planning of the practice, working with the Partners

Keep abreast of current affairs and identify potential opportunities and threats

Create a Business Development Plan, overseeing the implementation of the aims and objectives

Formulate objectives and research and develop ideas for future development

Represent the practice at external meetings

Be innovative, assess and implement change

Ensure areas of the business are delivered to high standards

Ensure the Business Continuity Plan is regularly reviewed and updated.

Ensure that the business objectives are met, and targets are implemented and delivered.

Present and interpret performance data

Deputise for the practice manager in the event of their absence

Information Technology & Governance

Manage the organisations IT system

Ensure compliance of appropriate information governance systems

Ensure compliance with Data Security & Protection and the ICO (Information Commissioners Office)

Ensure IT compliance with the contractual obligations

Oversee compliance with Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR responsibilities

Ensure Data Sharing Agreements and Data Privacy Impacts assessments are reviewed and updated.

Communication

Understand the communication systems and ensure effective channels of communication between all team members

Develop, implement, and embed an effective communication strategy (internal and external)

Actively encourage and promote the use of patient online services

Build/maintain good working relationships

Represent Farnham Park Health Group at meetings and events

Present a professional image

Share skills and expertise with others
