Role
Summary:
To support the practice nursing team in the
delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary
team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient
population.
The healthcare assistant will deliver and assist
clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health
promotion and patient education.
Main duties of the job
Undertake new patient health
checks
Support the practice nurse
with health promotion programs
Baseline
observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate,
recording findings accurately
24-hour
BP monitoring
Undertake wound care/dressings
Support the management of chronic disease clinics
BMI checks
Chaperone as required
Flu
vaccinations
Specimen handling
Support during minor
operations as required
Room stocking
Fridge management, clinical waste and sharps bins
Deliver opportunistic health
promotion where appropriate
Venepuncture
Ear
irrigation
ECGs
Audits
Participate in local
initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
Support and participate in
shared learning within the practice
Complete opening and closing
procedures in accordance with the duty rota

Moorside Surgery are
looking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic, flexible and resourceful
experienced Health Care Assistant who is committed to providing excellent care
to our patients to join our friendly team.
The ideal candidate would be a team player who would thrive on being
part of a growing and busy practice with the enthusiasm to play a key part in
our plans for the future.
Our current clinical team comprises of 5 GP Partners, 6 Salaried GPs, 3 Practice nurses, 3 Health Care Assistants, and support teams.
With a list size of approximately 8200, we are a high achieving QOF
practice based in purpose built surroundings, CQC rated good.

- Phlebotomy certification
- 6 months relevant experience working in a primary care
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong IT skills
- Clear, polite telephone manner
- Competent in the use of patient record management systems: SystmOne
- Effective time management (Planning & Organising)
- environment in the last 2 years
- Experience of working with the general public
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting
- Immunisation (flu, B12, childhood)
- Dressings
- Wound Care / Removal of sutures & staples
- ECGs
