Islington is London's smallest borough, covering an area of just over six square miles. It is an area of tremendous diversity, not only in terms of the people who live here, but also the environment. It has some of the most famous Georgian squares in London, a canal system, the New River Walk and Arsenal Football Club.
Main duties of the job
5 sessions - Mon AM and PM, Tues AM and PM and Thurs PM
Innovative total triage appointment system based on Online Consulting (eConsult).
One to two of these sessions would be as duty doctor which operates in a similar way.
To most surgeries (we operate a dealing of cards type system) where as each eConsult or call comes in it is allocated in time order to each clinician and once all routine triage slots in regular clinics filled, the subsequent ones will go onto DD list- which often means DD is pleasantly manageable.
Routine clinics typically have 10-11 triage slots in AM (which are filled with either eConsults or eConsult lites, and clinician can either deal with on day if appropriate or triage to appropriate appointment) and 6 pre booked appointments (typically 3 tel calls and 3 face to face). In PM typically 8 triage slots and 5 prebooked appointments.
Requirement for one extended hours per week either early AM or late evening (as per GP preference) which will be 3 early or late appts (2 telephone and 1 face to face) and correspondingly 3 less appointments either AM or PM
AM Duty sessions run from 0800-1200 and PM from 1400-1830
As we have 2 registrars you may be named as a supervisor of that trainee for a given session, which is mainly to debrief any cases the trainee wants to discuss.
Admin time is built into sessions and CPD as per BMA contract taken as sessions per month pro rata (can discuss details further with prospective applicant).
About us
We are an innovative, forward looking practice which willingly embraces new methods of working. As one of the first practices to move to EMIS Web back in 2012, we continue to look for IT solutions, such as Accurx, Surgery Connect, Appt Health, Apex etc to give our patients the best GP experience possible.
The majority of our staff have been with us for many years and we have a friendly welcoming approach to patients and staff alike.
We all share the same ethos of putting our patients and their care foremost in all we do and we would welcome a like minded Salaried GP to join us during this maternity cover period.
