Job summary

The Healthcare Centre is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and proactive candidate to join our highly effective and friendly team. The successful candidate will need to provide a first-class service to our patients. We will expect them to enjoy working in a caring environment and be prepared to go the extra mile.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work under the indirect supervision of the practice management team and nurse manager and undertake tasks and duties delegated by the management team, nurse manager and Doctors.

The HCA will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures.

About us

The Healthcare Centre / Longsands Medical Centre is based across two sites in the Fulwood area of Preston and have a patient list of approximately 13,000 patients. We a multi-disciplinary team of GP Partners, Salaried GP's, Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Manager, Advanced Clinical Pharmacist, Practice Nurses, Senior Healthcare Assistant, Trainee Nursing Associate and Healthcare Assistants/Care-Co-ordinators with administration and management support.

We are part of the Preston North & East Primary Care Network.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working directly in a healthcare assistant role, adult health and social care, learning support or public health/health improvement (including unpaid work)

Desirable

  • Experience working within a GP Practice
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Clinical Governance skill
  • Health and Safety Awareness
  • Basic first aid knowledge
  • Basic knowledge about Blood Borne Diseases

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent

Desirable

  • Phlebotomy accredited
  • Immunisation and Vaccination accredited
  • Ear Syringing accredited

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Great communication skills
  • Customer Service skills/ Patient focussed
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Computer skills
  • Organisational skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Confident around other Health Professionals
