Job summary
The post holder will have a sound understanding of
mental health within a Primary Care setting and will be the initial point of
contact for patients first presenting with mental health issues.
The role aims to improve the experience for our
patients with mental health needs who would otherwise have seen a GP
This is an exciting opportunity to help develop
this role to further integrate mental health services into the primary care
team and work closely with the University Wellbeing team
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the Practice Clinical team,
triaging/screening and following up patients identified within the Practice
population
To liaise with and refer onto secondary mental
health services, community services, voluntary and public sector agencies as
required and also work with the University Wellbeing team.
To work independently in the Practice, providing
assessment, treatment and referral of patients with specified mental health
problems.
To be responsible for managing a caseload ensuring
robust assessment, care planning, interventions and therapy, onward referral
and through-care as appropriate.
To comply with both clinical and corporate
governance frameworks
To identify and communicate any concerns through
relevant management processes

- Substantial post qualification experience , some of which must be working with young people in a mental health or other complex care setting A grasp of relevant legislation and guidance e.g. Mental Health Legislation, Children Act, Education Act.
Desirable
- Experience of working in primary care/GP practice

- Relevant professional qualification e.g. nursing, psychologist, psychotherapist, family therapist, or relevant mental health profession. Post qualification professional development On-going professional development supervision and/ or experience of mentoring/supporting learners or ability to demonstrate the skills required for effective mentoring.
