Maternity Locum GP

Job summary

Ombersley Medical Centre and Knightwick Surgery are looking for a GP to cover maternity leave on a fixed term basis for 9-12 months starting from December 2023. The role will be based across both practices set in beautiful rural Worcestershire with 4-7 sessions per week on offer.

We are a dynamic, forward thinking and close working group of GPs delivering high quality patient care with the support of an excellent MDT including skilled nurses, clinical pharmacists, FCP, Mental Health practitioner, social prescribers and lifestyle advisors. Clinics are a mix of telephone and face to face and follow the BMA safe working guidance of no more than 25 appointments per day.

Both practices are members of Droitwich, Ombersley and The Rurals (DOR) PCN and are both high achieving practices in terms of QOF, patient satisfaction and CQC, offering many additional services to benefit our patients.

We are dispensing practices and care for 11,200 patients between the two practices. Ombersley Medical Centre is also a training practice.

Main duties of the job

  1. In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations and emergencies, telephone consultations and queries, triaging, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, patient test results, referral letters NHS/private/e-referral, paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner;
  2. Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation;
  3. Recording clear and contemporaneous I.T. based patient consultation notes to agreed standards ;
  4. Collecting data for audit purposes;
  5. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible) including EPS;
  6. Prescribing in accordance with locally agreed or nationally agreed guidelines (in the absence of locally agreed ones).
  7. In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
  8. From time to time there may be extra duties/responsibilities that may be required of the post-holder. These will be agreed between the post holder and the Practice.
