Job summary

We are looking an enthusiastic and motivated Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at Kiltearn Medical Centre.

You will be supported by the nursing team within the practice, the Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) will deliver care within the boundaries of their role and in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols.

Main duties of the job

  • To assist the GPs and Nurses in providing a high standard of care for the practice population within the practice policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • To assist the GPs, Nurses and practice staff to meet the nationally agreed targets for health as agreed in the new GMS contract.
  • To carry out clinical and administrative duties including but not limited to:
  • NHS Health Checks / Learning Disability Checks
  • Wound dressing
  • Suture removals
  • B12 injections
  • Blood Pressure monitoring
  • ECG
  • HGV / Fostering . Adoption Medicals
  • Urine testing
  • QOF related patient care.
  • Check the emergency drugs and equipment

Clerical tasks

  • Input of general data and clinical information onto electronic patient records
  • Stock taking and ordering supplies of clinical / medical equipment
  • Restocking of clinical rooms as required
  • Referral of patients to other medical or administrative personnel and voluntary agencies when appropriate
  • Preparation of equipment for testing and servicing

Kiltearn Medical Centre has a skilled and experienced team of 6 GP Partners leading a Clinical Team of GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Nurse Associate, HCSWs and Pharmacists.

Our current patient list is circa 14,000 and the practice is well placed to be at the forefront of general practice, provide innovative and robust services, as well as provide development opportunities for the staff.

We are based in a modern purpose-built surgery, with an good CQC grading, and our ethos is to deliver high-quality medical care through our comprehensive, highly skilled team members.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Previous healthcare experience is vital in working with vulnerable patients.

Desirable

  • Candidate ideally will have NVQ level 2 and level 3 certificate in healthcare.
  • Experience working within primary care and a GP practice is a distinct advantage.
