Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, experienced full time Practice Manager to join our friendly team.
The successful candidate will join our executive team and have a key role in the strategic development of the practice whilst working closely with colleagues within the wider PCN.
The successful candidate will use their leadership, finance and management experience to take the practice forward, embracing change whilst continuing to hold on to the core values of general practice.
Main duties of the job
The Practice Manager will be expected to be able to respond to Practice requirements as and when they arise, demonstrating the ability to work under pressure and plan strategically whilst coping with the day-to-day problems.
Managing the administrative staff and non clinical staff, taking lead responsibility in staff appraisal and organising recruitment, selection and training.

Caen Medical Centre is a semi rural coastal practice located in the popular village of Braunton in North Devon, serving a patient population of around 12,600 patients.
Community is at the heart of everything we do, as demonstrated by our diverse team which includes 7 GP partners, 3 salaried GPs, an experienced nursing and admin team, clinical pharmacists, social prescribers all working alongside our community nursing team.
We are an established training practice for GP registrars and medical students.

- Working alongside our primary care network (PCN) and integrated care board (ICB), taking responsibility for the development and implementation of clinical services and pathways to meet future demand;
- Developing the practices workforce, financial plans, ensuring all systems and processes are effectively implemented while keeping abreast of new technology and NHS initiatives;
- Providing solid leadership based on a sound knowledge of business management, finance, planning and human resource management, including recruitment;
- Presenting and analysing data to monitor quality;
- Attending local meetings, representing the surgery and reporting to partners;
- Effectively managing all staff;
- Taking responsibility for security, repairs, insurance and maintenance of the premises, services and equipment;
- Ensuring that the practice complies with all aspects of Health & Safety at Work legislation;
- Managing all income, expenditure and accounts as well as preparing financial reports for the partners;
- Implementing and maintaining systems, under direction from the partners;
- Handling patient enquiries and suggestions including oversight of the practice-based complaints procedure;
- Ensuring practice compliance with data protection legislation.
